PDR023 sees Scotland's Duellist at the helm, delivering 3 originals, and coming backed with 3 cracking remixes.
First up is Deviant Activities. Rather than a personal review of his own weekend, it's a banger of a techno track. Grinding and distorted, like the aforementioned weekend, this is a relentless stomp.
Next up is Venezuela's Juan Trujillo with his take on Deviant Activities. His take is more dance floor friendly, less grinding, more bumping. The kind of track you long to hear at 6am when the party is still going strong. One for the late night deviant.
The next remix comes from Japan's Yuri Urano. This remix goes off in another direction, it's subtle yet in your face. Offbeat kick patterns pull you in and keep you hooked. It has contrasting light and darkness. This one reaches out to the hidden deviant inside you.
The final remix comes from Scotland's C Mantle, owner of Acre Recordings. That label should give you a clue what to expect. The BPM is increased, along with the intensity. We're going into hardcore territory here. This is one for the deviant you don't want to meet!
The fifth track comes back to Duellist with Nihilistic Brute. Delivering in the way only Duellist can, pulsating 4/4 rhythms keep you locked, with creeping and intense atmospheres building throughout. Peak time at its finest.
Closing off the release is a first for PDR. There has been a trend recently where releases have had to include an ambient track of sorts. We aren't fans of these tracks generally. The seem like self indulgent nonsense. Something to show the producer is capable of more than hammering techno. This is no exception. But we like Duellist, so we let it happen. Plus, many big names seem to get annoyed with these tracks, so that must mean there is something good, and unique about them, so it's in.
